Shop local this Christmas

While it’s infinitely easier to shop with big companies, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic means that we’re all being urged to shop locally to support small businesses.

Christmas is rapidly coming our way! Christmas shopping is one of the festive season’s most time-honoured traditions. This year in particular, we’re being urged to think a little harder about the gifts we’re buying and where we’re buying them from. In the Stavanger region you have the option between city shopping in Stavanger, Sandnes, Sola, Randaberg or Bryne, or you can get what you need for Christmas at one of the region's shopping centres.

Support your local farmer or deli
Don’t forget about local farm shops and delis. Fresh fruit and vegetables, delicious cakes and pastries. Many allow you to place orders well in advance – and there are usually plenty of bargains to be found, too.

Buy gift cards
Purchasing a gift card from your favorite theatre or restaurant is an immediate way to put cash into the business. Many restaurants, bars and hotels are offering gift cards, so friends can still treat each other to dinner – which could be the perfect Christmas gift, as it’ll give them something to daydream about long into the new year.

Whether you plan to use them yourself later in the year or give them to friends and family as presents, buying gift vouchers of cinema, theatre ogr consert tickets is a great way to support.

Home delivery
Shop local - online and offUsing local stores will have an enormous impact on their business. Many stores are now offering home delivery for customers who can't leave home. Are you well and running errands, remember to follow the health guidelines: keep at least one metre away from people, cough/sneeze into a paper tissue or into your elbow and most important of all: good hand hygiene.

Write a review
Write reviews on the restaurant where you have eaten, or the local shop with unique products, potential customers will read it and the overall effect could be fantastic. Not only would you be sharing your inside information on where to eat or go shopping in your local area, you would also give the store and it’s employees a boost in morale. Like, comment on and share their social posts.
