During the past three years, the County Governor of Rogaland has raised 400 complaints and objections which are to be considered by the elected county representatives.

The complaints have been raised is even though the government has asked county governors to show greater regard for local democracy. This has caused upset amongst many politicians.

Last September, Monica Mæland, who was Minister for municipal and modernisation matters at the time, asked the county governors to show far greater regard for local democracy in issues relating to planning permission. She urged them to exercise extreme caution when overriding decisions made at a local political level.
