Nine of ten jobs were in the public sector - Stavanger Chamber of Commerce

During the past twelve years, over 90% of all new jobs created in Rogaland have been in the public sector.

Almost one third of all those who are currently actively employed in the County work in the public sector, and the demand for personnel in the Health and Care Services sector in particular appears to be insatiable.

This development is not sustainable, says Bodil Sivertsen, Chief Administrative Officer of Sandnes, whilst Torfinn Harding, Professor at the University of Stavanger, is also concerned. This is because whilst the demand for public sector employees has increased, the number of people employed in the County as a whole has dropped.
