Prior to the downturn in oil, Rogaland was the county in Norway with the best employment rates. Two-three years later, we´re at a different level. Unemployment figures are high, and people are moving out of the county and out of the country. Now people are coming back, and the county is booming. Good news for the local economy and people’s wallets.
– The big picture shows unemployment rates decreasing, and more so in Rogaland than any other county, says Gustav Svane, Statistics Advisor in NAV Rogaland.
Just this year shows a decrease of 14% for those entirely out of work and 41% for those who were on some work-related scheme. We are seeing unemployment rates decreasing even more among non-Norwegian citizens, especially amongst the Polish, says Svane.
