From the SCI Team!

December! And Stavanger is buzzing. Outdoor christmas lights are up, and Black Friday and other events have drawn good crowds to our nicely decorated city centre.

When we are preparing for Christmas, practically and mentally, it is reassuring to know that the economy in the region has recovered. Growth is picking up, and unemployment is down to 3%.

We have good reasons to believe that our economy will continue to grow next year. Activity in the oil- and gas sector is increasing steadily, with giant field-developments like Johan Sverdrup well on its way. The positive picture was confirmed last week when the investment-forecasts for the energy industry were dislosed. The forecasts conclude that more than 170 billion NOK´s will be invested on The Norwegian Continental Shelf next year. This is massive, and will certainly contribute to securing excisting jobs, and create new ones, the next couple of years.

The Stavanger Chamber International offers a variety of activities in December and January: Christmas Concert with SSO (14 December), Free Christmas Concert for Children (20 December), Cross Country Skiing for Beginners, Adults (12 January), Cross Country Skiing for Beginners, Families (13 January).

Best wishes from the SCI Team!
